The Springboard Charity Team Velo Challenge ‘18

The Team at Shard are thrilled to announce our involvement in The Springboard Charity’s annual Team Velo Challenge.

The Springboard Charity encourages disadvantaged young people to achieve their potential and helps unemployed people of all ages get into work through its various employability programmes. These programmes offer underprivileged people employability training, access to work placements within Springboard’s various Business Partners as well as ongoing mentoring and support

Through these means, the charity aids disadvantaged people in gaining sustainable employment in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. Since its conception, Springboard have made considerable strides towards alleviating poverty and unemployment across the UK, helping improve the lives of over 1000 people every year.

From 20th to the 22nd September, The Springboard Charity’s annual Team Velo Challenge will take place. Several of our team members at Shard are happy to take part as part of our ongoing support of the charity and to help fundraise for their important work in the community. The Shard team and the rest of the participants of Team Velo Challenge will cycle a staggering 250 miles over 3-days from Bankside in London all the way to Eiffel Tower!

The Team Velo cycle route starts at Hilton London Bankside, making its way out of London via Elephant & Castle and all the way to the Portsmouth Coast through the serene towns and landscapes of Surrey.

On Day 2, after a rocky ferry ride across the English Channel, the team will ride from Caen to Le Neubourg. Here, they will be met by a delicious BBQ provided generously by The Genuine Dining Company.

Day 3 will see our riders head towards the River Seine and eventually into shining city of Paris for a well-earned glass of champagne by the Eiffel Tower.

All the money raised for The Springboard Charity goes directly to the work currently taking place in the community. Overall, Shard will have raised over £3000 for The Springboard Charity, which is more than enough to fund 10 young people’s access to two weeks’ work experience, helping disadvantaged people gain access to employment.

Shard are proud to be sponsoring The Springboard Charity pantomime - Aladdin, at the Arts Theatre in London.

We are creating all visual and marketing assets to help promote the event and raise funds for the charity.Springboard is an outstanding charity helping young people achieve their potential as well as superb work nurturing unemployed people of any age into work within the hospitality industry.

Aladdin - The hospitality industry’s pantomime, is set to be a West End Theatrical spectacular - featuring leading names from the hospitality industry treading the boards for our viewing pleasure.

Helping spread Christmas cheer.

It's that time of the year when thousands of businesses across the world spend money on Christmas cards and postage to express a seasons greetings to their customers, plus a subtle reminder of their services.

We prefer spending money helping support charities and people less fortunate than us, so this year Shard will be making a donation to The Ellenor Hospice and Shelter, both worthy causes… money wisely spent.
